Two families from Southridge are currently living in Guatemala and recently sent updates...

Matt & Mandy Wilson have been serving at Casa Hogar, an orphanage for girls, with their three children since September. They write, "We have decided to return to Canada in August and back to our jobs for the time being.  There is no doubt that at times I feel like I can stay on longer (we feel like we are scratching the surface and really developing trust) but...will continue to support and work with this mission until we feel God's calling elsewhere.  We plan to come back, whether it's long term or short term trips, is up to God...We feel so blessed to come this far. It is the glory of our Lord that is revealed through our lives because we could never do this on our own." Geoff & Rita Doppenberg, also in Guatemala with their three children, have been working to rehabilitate malnourished children among the rural Mayan people and serving their families by helping to build homes. Recently, however, their work has been moving in a different direction. "It is great to build homes," Rita writes, "But homes are only good if healthy people can live in them. While I know we will continue to do construction projects in the villages, our ministry will change in the direction that we will make sure that people get the medical care they need and deserve.  God has led us this way, and He will provide a way for us to follow."
