What Would You Ask God?
If you could ask God any question what would it be? Sponsored children sit down and share their questions for God:

We have the opportunity, by sponsoring children like these, to personally invest in the life of a child in need. Through sponsorship, we can help children to become healthy and fulfilled adults, experience God's love, and bring about lasting change to their families and communities.

To learn more about sponsorship, or to sponsor a child, visit the Welcome Centre at any location to pick up a child sponsorship kit.

From the shores of Lake Erie to the mountains of Guatemala
This summer, Jennelle Duerksen is taking part in a unique mission opportunity. She writes:

"This summer I am taking part in a missions program for four months (beginning of May - the end of August). The organization I will be with is called Global Shore. They run a program in the summer for post-secondary students and it is this program that I have recently been accepted into. It is a unique program that combines a two-month work term with a two-month missions term. In Ontario, the other team members and myself will be employed in an asparagus packing plant. …
Updates from Guatemala
Two families from Southridge are currently living in Guatemala and recently sent updates...

Matt & Mandy Wilson have been serving at Casa Hogar, an orphanage for girls, with their three children since September. They write, "We have decided to return to Canada in August and back to our jobs for the time being.  There is no doubt that at times I feel like I can stay on longer (we feel like we are scratching the surface and really developing trust) but...will continue to support and work with this mission until we feel God's calling elsewhere.  …

Summer in Swaziland
I received an email recently from one of our students at Southridge, telling me about her summer plans. Jessica Dingman will be spending time this summer in Africa to serve. Here's her story:

This past summer, I went to Guatemala for five weeks with MCC (www.mcc.org). It was breath-taking and opened my eyes to so many realities of life as I experienced God's love for me and others in a whole new way. I really felt like God had placed missions on my heart.

This June I will going to Swaziland, Africa for one month to …
Get a bit of Fresh Air
If you're looking for a way to serve others together as a family this summer, consider hosting a child through the Fresh Air Fund.

Fresh Air children are boys and girls, six to 18 years old, who live in New York City and want to experience the simple pleasures of life outside the city. They come to stay in the Niagara Region for either one or two weeks.

The majority of Fresh Air children are from low-income communities. These are often families without the resources to send their children on summer vacations. Most inner-city youngsters grow up in towering apartment …

This morning, we received the following note from MCC regarding the escalating violence currently taking place in Syria (according to the UN, 100 people are being killed each day):

Alarmed by the continuing violence in Syria, MCC has launched a $500,000 Middle East Pre-Crisis appeal to assist partner organizations as they provide emergency food aid, medicine, relief kits and empower grassroots, community efforts that encourage violent conflict prevention. Monetary donations and relief kits can be donated at  your local MCC office or thrift shop and should be marked Middle East Crisis. More information at canada.mcc.org/middleastcrisis.

A while ago, Matt and Mandy Wilson, along with their three children, felt God calling them to pack up and move to Guatemala for one year. Here is the story, from Mandy's perspective, of how they got from Niagara to Jalapa:

“Our first task in approaching another people, another culture, another religion is to take off our shoes. For the place we are approaching is Holy. Else we may find ourselves treading on another's dream. Move serious still, we may forget that God was there before our arrival.” (unknown author)

This past weekend, during SouthridgeNOW, you heard about a new experience for families that we're doing this coming summer. Family360 is going to be a three-day mission trip experience for families right here in the Niagara Region. We will be serving together as families alongside our local anchor causes as we learn together about the ways that people right in our own backyard are faced with issues of poverty and marginalization.

In addition to being a great opportunity to serve together with our children (regardless of age), Family360 promises to be a fun time as families come to learn, …
