It's Gardening Time!
If you’ve ever had a chance to venture out back of our Glenridge building, you might have noticed a huge garden located out there.  After a long fall and winter, opening the garden is a big job filled with labour intensive tasks.

This year, we had a group of 32 hardworking team members from Freedom 55 Financial who volunteered for the job!  This group came in last Thursday and in only 7 hours transformed our garden from a jungle of overgrowth to a beautifully planted and maintainable garden ready to grow!  Take a look below for some pictures …

A Father to the Fatherless?
For three years my wife Becky has been visiting our Compassion sponsor child named Edgar who lives in Guatemala. In year one she went to meet him and his family by herself, and the following two years she's brought our boys along with her. We've never traveled to visit Edgar as an entire family before... That is, until now!

Tomorrow (Tuesday) we'll be flying to Guatemala for a bit of a family adventure. On Wednesday, we'll travel with Compassion representatives to Edgar's student centre to visit him and his family there, and then on Friday …

Pursuing Dignity for All
Drew Toth is a full-time coach in our shelter ministry and a strong advocate for our homeless friends.  We asked him to tell the story of the dental project...

I write to you with exciting news about what God has been up to through a team of people in our community. Four years ago, a police officer came to the shelter and asked about opportunities to volunteer.  He shared that his wife was a dental hygienist and he wondered if she could help with the oral health of the residents at the shelter. This question sparked a series …

What Would You Ask God?
If you could ask God any question what would it be? Sponsored children sit down and share their questions for God:

We have the opportunity, by sponsoring children like these, to personally invest in the life of a child in need. Through sponsorship, we can help children to become healthy and fulfilled adults, experience God's love, and bring about lasting change to their families and communities.

To learn more about sponsorship, or to sponsor a child, visit the Welcome Centre at any location to pick up a child sponsorship kit.

April 17th

Recently, a very dedicated group of Southridge volunteers delivered another great tax clinic for the ninth straight year.  With the offer of preparing free tax returns for anyone in Niagara that makes $25000 or less, they served close to 100 people this year.  Most of the people who were served do not attend Southridge and were very appreciative to be able to come to the church and get this kind of practical and friendly assistance.

Here’s a few words from a few folks who took advantage of our services:

They run a program in the summer for post-secondary students and it is this program that I have recently been accepted into. It is a unique program that combines a two-month work term with a two-month missions term. In Ontario, the other team members and myself will be employed in an asparagus packing plant. …

Get a bit of Fresh Air
If you're looking for a way to serve others together as a family this summer, consider hosting a child through the Fresh Air Fund.

Fresh Air children are boys and girls, six to 18 years old, who live in New York City and want to experience the simple pleasures of life outside the city. They come to stay in the Niagara Region for either one or two weeks.

The majority of Fresh Air children are from low-income communities. These are often families without the resources to send their children on summer vacations. Most inner-city youngsters grow up in towering apartment …

How Rose City Kids Impacted Me

The following is a note written by one of our 460 Rose City Kids, who has recently taken part in our Junior Leadership program:

When I first started at Rose City Kids 4 years ago I didn't think that anyone/anything was important. I didn't listen to anyone and since those 4 years have past and now we are into our 5th year I have learned a lot and that's all thanks to the leaders at Rose City Kids because if they didn't push and push me to be a better person I would still be a …
