It`s not surprising that the church is seen as one of the greatest hindrances to the advancement of gender equality in our society. For generations, men have used the Bible to defend the domination and degradation of women, building churches that seem more like boys clubs than the bride of Christ. Why has Christianity treated the fairer sex so unfairly? Is God sexist, or is it time for the church to get in touch with her feminine side?

Gandhi is often quoted as having said, "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Unfortunately, our world is full of Christians who, despite their best intentions, misrepresent the heart of God with their words and actions. Have we become our own worst enemy? Might we be the very thing that is standing between Jesus and the world He loved enough to die for?
