Proverbs 29:18 teaches, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” [KJV]. Vision matters. But what’s more critical than just any vision is that God’s revealed vision clearly exists in a community.
As we survey the pages of scripture, we see that God created people a certain way that was corrupted by sin. Since humanity was powerless to address sin and its effects on their own, God intervened in the person of Jesus who lived sinlessly, died sacrificially and rose from the dead miraculously. His resurrection enabled followers of Jesus to received His Holy Spirit in order to be empowered to live the way He originally intended.
It’s in this power of God’s Holy Spirit that believers are also united together as the church and can begin to restore each other, others and the world around them back to God’s original design until Christ returns and completes His work. So as part of God’s grand story of redemption, we see the church as a critical piece of it, where God’s vision for the church is to be a Holy Spirit empowered unified force of restoration in the world.
Here at Southridge, we want to be faithful to that vision and play the role in God’s timeless plan that He desires. So our vision is really His vision: to be a restorative force across Niagara and around the world in the power His Holy Spirit provides!
